Mortars and Rockets. The mortar bomb and its projector, the mortar, were widely used by all the combatant nations; the types used are described and illustrated. Many of the soldiers who participated in World War 2 will remember the efficiency of the various German mortars and these are all included. Also included are the Russian 12 cm mortars that so impressed the Germans that they copied them. The familiar British 2", 3", and 4.2" models and the Japanese and Italian versions are mentioned. So, too, are the crude but effective improvisations encountered in the Pacific campaigns.
